light scene - 2020
My intention for this assignment was to create a scenographic atmosphere that takes time to be fully understood. Therefor the amount of elements was brought back to a minimum. Only the essentials were used to tell the story.
The inside of the box is clothed with black foam board (walls/ceiling) which creates a sense of infinity. The floor is clothed with white foam board to create a diffuse reflection which gives an impression of a water surface. The back wall is also equipped with a layer of plexi glass. The lighting only comes in the form of a stripe and a dot. The scene is free for interpretation but it was my intention to tell the story of a divorce. The different scenes represent different stages of this process. Personally I think the first scene has the strongest narrative. In this image the parents are having a fight and their child feels helpless and is put aside.
